We all know the benefits that come from eating eggs, but did you know eggs can be used in incredible ways to improve the look, feel, and health of your hair and scalp.
The yolks are usually removed because the egg whites contain the essential vitamins, minerals, and proteins that your hair needs to grow long and strong without the unpleasant smell of the yolk.
So here’s everything you’ll need to try these amazing hair masks for yourself …
1. Use this mask for growth
Egg whites are full of high quality protein and vitamins that have a nurturing effect on your scalp, while boosting your natural hair growth. The coconut oil used also provides the vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids essential for improving hair growth.
These are two ideal ingredients because the molecules of the oil are so small that they can be easily absorbed into your hair follicles, stimulating further growth.
- Either 1 or 2 egg whites depending on the thickness of your hair
- 1 teaspoon of coconut oil for each egg white
Begin the process by combining the coconut oil and the egg whites in a clear glass bowl, and thoroughly whisking the mixture until it reaches a uniform consistency.
Now apply a small amount to your fingertips, or a hair mask brush, and first putting it on your scalp, then gradually to the rest of the hair
Next, put your hair up in a loose bun or hair clip, and cover it with a shower cap. Leave the mask on for about an hour before completely washing the egg whites out of your hair with lukewarm water, make sure the water isn’t too hot, or the egg whites might begin to cook in your hair.
If your hair still has an unpleasant scent shampoo until the smell is out, and allow your hair to air dry.
2. Use this mask for oily hair.
If your scalp is especially oily it is even more important to remove the yolk because it contains a lot of fat, and in addition to getting rid of the oils in your hair, it will also leave it feeling softer, and looking shiner.
- 1 or 2 egg whites
- 1 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil
Start by taking 1 or 2 eggs depending on the length and thickness of your hair, and separating the egg whites from the yolks. Next combine the egg whites and the olive oil, then whisk them together until they become an even consistency.
Now apply the mask to your hair, put it up, cover it with a shower cap, and leave the mask on for at least an hour, or longer if your hair is on the thicker side. Finally wash the mask off with lukewarm water in order to avoid cooking the eggs, and shampoo your hair to get the smell out.
3. Use this mask for dandruff
This mask helps eliminate dandruff by exfoliating your scalp, and removing all the dead cells, dirt, flakey skin, plus the stale greases and oils that your hair accumulates throughout the day.
- 1-2 egg whites depending on your hair volume
- 1/2 teaspoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice per egg white
Combine your ingredients into a clear glass bowl, and thoroughly stir the mixture with a fork or whisk until you achieve a uniform consistency.
Then apply it to your hair beginning at your roots, and moving down to your tips. Secondly, put your hair in a tight bun and cover it with a shower cap for about 30 minutes to ensure proper absorption, and wash it out cool water to avoid cooking the eggs.
Finally, wash your hair out with shampoo, and your dandruff will be untraceable after 2 months of regular use.
